Our Founder and CEO Elga Johnston has always been connected to community activism and action since she was a little girl. A native daughter of the Island of Puerto Rico, her strong cultural upbringing in a large Puerto Rican family has helped mold her into the outspoken and fierce servant of the community she is today. Since the founding Ayuda Hispana Outreach (EL) as she likes to go by has been dedicated to finding ways to be of service to the Hispanic community in Newton County Georgia and Beyond. From connecting local residents to much needed state and federal government services and resources to spearheading food and water drives to survivors of recent hurricanes in Puerto Rico, Elga has been a warrior and huge advocate for people in their most vulnerable time of need.
